From the highlands of western Cameroon comes this distinctive coffee, produced by the Grassfield Co-op, a collective founded in 2019. This Java varietal proves Arabica has a future here — grown in rich soils near Mt. Oku, it’s a rare gem in a country still dominated by robusta. This lot is fully washed, with a careful 24–36 hour fermentation before being sun-dried on raised African beds for 7–8 days, ensuring a clean and consistent cup.Working with smallholder farmers across Foumbot, Bamenda, Mbouda, and Bafoussam, the Grassfield Co-op is dedicated to elevating quality and preserving the region’s coffee heritage. Although over 80% of Cameroon's coffee production is robusta, the volcanic soil, altitude, and unique microclimates surrounding Mt. Oku provides ideal conditions for arabica. Despite challenges such as aging trees and historically low yields, a new wave of cooperatives and government initiatives are reviving Cameroon’s role on the specialty coffee stage.
